THE WOODLANDS, TX – BAILEY’S VOICE, a feature film that was written, produced, filmed, and edited locally, is planning a red carpet premiere at the end of this month. However, the producers at Magic Fire Productions and Blain Film Co. are inviting the media, industry professionals, film critics, and key members of the community to attend a Pre-Screen Mixer this upcoming Saturday, June 24, starting at 7:00 p.m. at Class Act Productions, 25275 Budde Rd # 25, Spring, TX 77380.

At the event, there will be a networking mixer featuring champagne and hors d’oeuvres, a private screening of the film, and a post-screening opportunity to meet, interview, videotape, and photograph key members of the production team, including director Brandon Brumfield, producer Paul Blain, screenwriter Sean K. Thompson, and lead actors in the production. Blu-Ray discs of the film will also be made available.

BAILEY’S VOICE is a feature-length film about Reed and Maggie Daltry, a young married couple, who learn that their young daughter Bailey is severely autistic, situated at a point on the spectrum that she is completely uncommunicative. A chance encounter with the parent of another autistic child opens Reed and Maggie’s eyes to the possibilities of technology to provide resources for those on the autism spectrum. The film takes a sometimes humorous, sometimes heart-wrenching, but always human look at the effects the disorder can have on a family. Bittersweet but ultimately uplifting despite no pat resolutions or easy answers, BAILEY’S VOICE is itself a significant voice to the world on behalf of those on the spectrum and their families.

“I wanted to convey a true sense of reality and humanity in this film,” said screenwriter Sean K. Thompson. “In Hollywood, autism is usually depicted as merely a plot point, where the autistic child has the secret codes or other such MacGuffin. In this world, however, Bailey is simply a child unable to communicate in traditional ways and is determined in her silence to overcome the barrier.”

Director Brandon Brumfield is no stranger to telling human-interest stories, having started his filmmaking career as a youth and expanding Magic Fire Productions to a true feature film independent studio.

“I love to tell stories, and BAILEY'S VOICE is the perfect example of why we love film so much,” said Brumfield. “It is so much more than an independent film using local talent and resources. The creation and completion of this film involved community on different levels; geographical, societal... having all these resources in this area was astounding. And the patience of the cast and crew through the COVID times never wavered. With those darker times behind us, the world is finally ready for Bailey.”

Producer Paul Blain of Blain Film Co., who also has a role in the film as Reed’s boss, is strong in his belief that there is a place for independent filmmaking in The Woodlands area. “This film is about understanding those who may communicate differently than us,” he said. “One of the beautiful things about Filmmaking in general, is the opportunity to present a variety of perspectives and life experiences. It is my hope that the viewers of BAILEY’S VOICE will come away with a strong desire to seek to understand the many amazing  and all-too-often ignored people on the autism spectrum.”

BAILEY’S VOICE was completely filmed and produced in The Woodlands area using personal funds of the production team and monies donated to a GoFundMe account. It has already won the Best Human Interest Film category in the 2023 World Premiere Film Festival. The film stars Samantha Walker, Troy Lowry Jr., Rachel Brownhill, and introduces Samantha Kerns as Bailey.

The texts (which are actually phrases, not individual “words”) of the “Seven Last Words of Christ” have been the inspiration to composers and theologians through the centuries and are all taken from those sayings uttered by Jesus between his crucifixion and death as recorded in the Gospels.

The concert is the launch of a new fine arts series at the church, “The Master Works.”  It is the vision of the series to bring inspired, professional musical offerings to the North Houston area.

Texas Familias Council, Fish Tales Restaurant, Texas AgriLife Extension, and Constable Harkness’ office are among those who help local residents

AUGUST 12, 2021 - LIBERTY COUNTY, TX - The Colony Ridge Communities have recently enjoyed being chosen as the destination location of several recent events organized by various community organizations. In one week alone, free Covid-19 vaccinations have been given to families, local teachers enjoyed a special meal catered by a family favorite restaurant, and hundreds of backpacks were distributed to local children at no cost.

Texas Familias Council created, organized, and hosted an event last Friday to provide free Covid-19 vaccinations to residents of the Colony Ridge Communities. Council president Maria Banos Jordan, president of Texas Familias Council, was instrumental in giving residents a greater sense of health, security, and well-being with the drive-up to the vaccination site to receive the vaccines in the comfort of their cars. The first 200 residents aged 12 and up received Pfizer Covid vaccines free of charge.

“This event was offered by the state of Texas and administered by the Texas Emergency Maintenance Department and the Texas National Guard,” said Jordan. “Trusted community partners are essential to the success of our efforts.” 

The mission of the Texas Familias Council is to support families and inspire inclusive communities. ?All initiatives are volunteer-driven and coordinated by Council committees consisting of diverse and respected area leaders and organizations. Council programs are provided at no cost to communities. The Council is a nonpartisan organization that welcomes elected officials and leaders committed to supporting diverse populations, regardless of affiliation.

The vaccination event was one of the latest in a series of community-based events that have taken place in Colony Ridge in partnership organized by agencies and organizations in the areas in and around Liberty County. A few days before the vaccination event, Liberty County Precinct 6 Constable Zack Harkness galvanized several local partners to donate and distribute hundreds of backpacks for students returning to Colony Ridge-area schools.

“We had 450 backpacks to give away, as well as school supplies and dental screenings from A2Z Dental & Braces,” said Harkness. “We also had representatives from our office as well as the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department. Additionally, Quadvest Utilities, All Pro Asphalt, and Play 4 Cade participated as sponsors, and our thanks go out to them.”

The week ended with teachers coming for the first time to the newly constructed Pine Burr Elementary School were treated to a special, free lunch catered by Fish Tales, a local restaurant popular with local families. Colony Ridge LLC has donated more than 30 acres of land so that Pine Burr could be constructed.

“It was important that these teachers got a good meal from us before the school year started,” said Calvin Nelson, owner of Fish Tales. “I feel like our teachers don’t get paid what they deserve.” Nelson provided 150 meals of fish, chicken, shrimp, hushpuppies, and fries at a significant discount to the school district for the event. He also pointed out that teachers enjoy discounts every Tuesday throughout the year at his restaurant.

Additionally, the week previous saw a special car seat safety event organized by Texas AgriLife Extension Passenger Safety Initiatives where numerous local families had their existing car seats properly installed or outright replaced by the organization and Constable Harkness’ office.

Colony Ridge is honored to have been chosen as a destination of choice for local community entities.

Liberty County development company Colony Ridge, LLC announced a successful event in partnership with Liberty County Precinct 6 Constable Zach Harkness’ office and Texas AgriLife Passenger Safety KidSafe Initiatives to provide free car seat safety checks and free car seats to residents of the Colony Ridge communities in the area. 

“We were so proud to have been a part of this significant event that was key in ensuring the safety and security of our local residents,” said Trey Harris, co-founder and partner of Colony Ridge. “Working together with Constable Harkness and Texas AgriLife showed true community spirit, and we’re happy knowing that many families in our communities are driving around in a safer environment.” 

Constable Harkness and members of his department as well as staff from the Texas AgriLife KidSafe Initiatives personally checked and installed several car seats at the event. Personnel from nearby Plum Grove Fire Department also maintained a presence at the Santa Fe Community Center in Colony Ridge.

“We completed 25 inspections, collected eight unsafe seats, and distributed 22 new car seats,” said Rachel Walker, Program Director for Texas AgriLife Passenger Safety KidSafe Initiatives. “Several of the children arrived unrestrained or in seat belts only, so it was a great day getting these kids back in car seats and boosters.”

Lt. Col. Grossman is an internationally recognized scholar, author (including co-authoring a book with Glenn Beck), soldier, and speaker. He is a former West Point psychology professor, Professor of Military Science, and an Army Ranger who has combined his experiences to present a field of scientific endeavor that contributes to our understanding of the process of healing the victims of violence, in war and peace.

He has testified before U.S. Senate and Congressional committees on three different occasions, he has testified before numerous state legislatures, and he and his research have been cited in a national address by the President of the United States.

June 27 event will benefit First Responders in crisis

Emergency Chaplain Group, a nonprofit organization that provides counseling services for First Responders, today announced that its annual clay shooting fundraising tournament – Shoot Clays | Save Lives – has a new date: Saturday, June 27 at Blackwood Gun Club, 1400 FM 2854 in Conroe. The event will raise funds for Emergency Chaplain Group’s services – which have never ceased even during the global pandemic – of helping First Responders in need. The event is open to the public and is sponsored by Siddons-Martin.

Teams of four can sign up for a morning’s worth of clay shooting, fine dining, and other entertainment. Individuals can also sign up and be placed in teams already registered. The event starts with registration at 8:00 am and runs through lunchtime. Johri goes on to explain that “Santa and his elves are very busy and we need to be able to get in touch with our letter-senders’ parents to keep them updated on the situation. Naturally, the longer children wait to get us their letters, the harder it will be for Santa and his crew to keep up with demand.”

The mailbox was brought to Woodlands Eco Realty by Santa himself, who also recently paid a visit to the offices at the second annual Santa Pawz event where dogs and their owners were treated to entertainment, refreshments, and free photos with the jolly old elf. This annual tradition and fundraiser for Pure Mutts Animal Sanctuary ensures that pet parents also get to take their fur kids to pictures with Santa while helping less fortunate pups.

Families can bring kids to drop their letters in Santa’s mailbox at Woodlands Eco Realty office located at 26519 I-45 North, on the southbound feeder between Woodlands Parkway and Sawdust Road during extended holiday business hours.
