The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership Adopts Resolution to Support 2015 Road Bonds

THE WOODLANDS, TX (April 3, 2015) – The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership recently adopted a resolution in support of the 2015 road bond election, which will take place on May 9, and the 77 projects the bond will fund. The resolution was brought to the Partnership by Keep Montgomery County Moving political action committee co-chairs Alan “Barb” Sadler and Nelda Luce Blair and Treasurer Joe Michels. Sadler is former County Judge of Montgomery County; Blair is the founder of The Blair Law Firm, P.C. and Michels is founding shareholder of The Michels Law Firm.

The Woodlands Area Economic Development Partnership’s mission is to promote job growth and economic vitality in The Woodlands area by recruiting new businesses and supporting existing businesses in job retention and expansion.

According to proponents, approval of the upcoming 2015 road bonds will go a long way toward improving mobility and safety throughout Montgomery County − investing $350 million on a total of 77 much-needed projects to keep Montgomery County moving. The projects on the bonds were determined by precinct residents, the precinct commissioners, volunteer private engineering firms and other experts. Montgomery County Commissioners Court took the original number of proposed projects – well over 100 – and determined the 77 essential projects that could, based on the county’s recent and projected growth, be performed in a bond amount that would not include an increase in taxes.

“This organization supports the efforts of the Montgomery County Commissioners Court to address traffic congestion and reduced mobility,” Gil Staley, CEO of the Partnership, said. “We encourage all constituents and citizens of Montgomery County to vote for the passage of the road bond issue that is so vital to maintain our county,” Stuart Lapp, Chairman of the Partnership, continued.
