Special Angels of The Woodlands (SAW) is hosting its Chili/Gumbo Cook-Off on Saturday, September 24 at Papa’s Ice House located at 314 Pruitt Road in Spring.

Team registration is still open through September 17. Teams can participate in the cook-off for a $100 registration fee for gumbo and chili and $50 for cornbread. Trophies and bragging rights will be offered to the winning teams.

At the event, teams will set up at 8:00 a.m. and the doors open to the public at 12 noon. Family fun and games – including a cake walk, face-painting, prizes, kids’ music and relay games – will be offered until judging commences at 4:00 p.m. and awards at 6:00 p.m. Once the coolness of the evening hits, live music and a silent auction will be offered until a 50/50 drawing at 10:00 p.m.
